Schroeder Cherry Visits Our Mural Team

Schroder Cherry, successful puppeteer, story teller, and mixed media artist, presents to our Mural Team, sharing his knowledge and passion for art.

Schroeder Cherry grew up playing with puppets as a kid, apprenticed under a puppet master in college, joined a troupe shortly after, and then finally set off on his own performing original shows with puppets tackling issues on race in American History.

On his visit to the BYA studio to talk to the Mural Team, Schroeder shared his background in puppeteering and mixed media and how it has informed his process of art making, for both single pieces and a series of works. As an artist who has been successful in integrating his love for art and his career, Schroeder Cherry was an enriching speaker and had much knowledge to pass on. After his presentation and many questions, our Mural Team even got to follow his process of art - see them in action below!
