Volunteer + Intern Opportunities
Baltimore Youth Arts’ mission is to create long-lasting mentor relationships to support youth artistically, educationally and personally. In order to achieve this goal, we rely on the contributions of committed and enthusiastic volunteers with a passion for the arts, education, and youth development. Artist Mentors
(2+hrs/week - must have availability 3-7 M-Th to work with youth)
Assist youth with individual projects for their portfolio
Help youth cultivate their artistic brand through website and artist statement
Give an informal artist talk about your career as an artist/maker
Contribute ideas for gallery visits and workshops
Provide homework help and assistance applying for jobs and continuing education
Communication and Design
(2+ hrs/week, potential to work from home)
Assist with the design of the BYA website, including personal pages for BYA youth artists (all via Square Space, so you don't even need coding experience!)
Assist with design of Gathering, our youth publication, and a new BYA brochure
Document and archive youth artwork
Work with youth to tell the BYA story via blogging and social media
Work with youth to design flyers for print and web
Disseminate events via social media, passing out postcards, and flyering
Studio Assistant
(2- hours/week, during regular studio hours: M-Th from 11-7)
Assist with routine cleaning and organization
Track materials and make supply lists when needed
Administrative Assistance
(2+ hrs/week, potential to work from home)
Search for grants and donations
Create and maintain a spreadsheet to track sales of youth artwork
Help input attendance and organize youth applications and evaluation forms
Assist with youth outreach and recruitment
Assist with special events (exhibitions, fundraisers, etc)
