Kyle Yearwood, a motion graphics artist from Baltimore City, talks to the Mixed Media Team about his experience and artwork using photography and animation.

On July 19th, 2019 motion graphics artist and native of Baltimore City, Kyle Yearwood, visited our Mixed Media Team to share his photography and animation practice. Kyle uses imagery from around Baltimore City and motions graphic design to transform the focus of images into alternate, sometimes unorthodox settings. He has been published in various outlets, including Afropunk, The Baltimore Sun, and Essence as well as had his work exhibitioned at the National Black Theatre in Harlem and the Museum of the African Diaspora in San Francisco.

Kyle began his lesson by explaining the 3 main settings to pay attention to when using cameras: ISO, aperture, and shutter speed.

Kyle began his lesson by explaining the 3 main settings to pay attention to when using cameras: ISO, aperture, and shutter speed.

Then Kyle helped the team photoshop images from different environments and transform them onto new settings of their choice.

While the team did not get to use motions design in their artwork yet, they all learned something new about mixed media art. A big thank you to Kyle Yearwood for his time at BYA (@kyle.yearwood)!
