Summer 2022 Youth Spotlight: DeAnna
DeAnna is an apprentice in our photography group this summer!
What is the most interesting thing you have learned this summer?
Learning how to take pictures and images and getting to stamp them onto paper. I like how the images come out in the final product. When I was a kid, I used to print things onto paper and color them. I was always that one kid who would take leaves, color on them, and then stamp them onto paper.
What has been your favorite project so far?
My favorite project so far was learning how to edit pictures. I like how I have the power to change the pictures around through color correcting and other editing things. I like to take the photos from having too much light to having a balanced amount of light in them.
What is something that you are looking forward to this summer?
I’m looking forward to using more art in the background, to make unique pieces. I like painting and drawing.
Has this class impacted the type of art you want to make? If so, how?
The stamping and printing lesson made me start thinking about different art materials than what you normally think of to make art.
Favorite movie: The Avengers (2012)
When Loki gets smashed by the Hulk, that’s my favorite scene because Loki is just my favorite character. He’s misunderstood by most of the Avengers, and I relate to that. He’s a villain but also a superhero. If I were a superhero, I’d be someone like that.
