Filmmaking Spring 2021

Below three of our apprentices detail their favorite parts of learning about filmmaking this Spring!

Ayana Hall

I have learned about the basics of filmmaking, like the different shots, techniques, and extra tips. We also learned about how to edit our films in iMovie. I really enjoyed actually putting my project together in iMovie because it was very satisfying to see it all come together. I am interested in learning about how different shots will affect a scene when it comes to storytelling. I liked that I had the freedom to make my film about whatever I wanted to. I also really liked filmmaking itself; my favorite parts being the moving shots. This class has made me think more about storytelling and how I could convey a story without dialogue. While it may not be a film, I still want to try and experiment more with the story aspect of my art. I just really like the class and the opportunity  to work in a new and interesting medium.

Ju’won Briggs

I’ve been learning how to make a short film such as a trailer or commercial. I like that we get to conduct our own film.

Tyreke Thomas

I have been learning how to edit and create films and how you are able to make a career out of making films. [My favorite part has been] me and my friend making the film together. I am interested in learning in how to edit more and adding shot at the end and making film credits.I like that we all worked together on it and put in lots of time and it came out exactly how we wanted it.Yes it impacted I want to actually go in investing in houses real estate and this teaches you lots of independence.
